Singapore Design Festival

•November 26, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Went to the design festival on 26th November 2009, took a few images on some design I think is quite good.

- Table Design -

Looking at this table we all can tell that the designer is trying to design for space. I like this design is because the chairs is nicely fit into the table when is not occupied. This will make the place more neater and more space.

- Electric Bike -

This bike is different from the normal bike you see out there, because this bike is run by electricity. The station you see behind is actually the place for them to charge their battery. I like this design the most because I think this really is going to be useful in the societies nowadays and the designer is designing to save the earth. I think he or she have done the job by saving it. If this is going to be use in singapore, I believe that there will be less air pollution. Nice Concepts and Design!

What are your methods?

Fly on the wall.

What did you see?

People usually shops for foods more than electronic items.

There is a total of 32 counters and 9 counters is only serving single basket.

Followed a couple and time them to see how long they took to pay for their items.
They took 10mins to be their turn and they then took another 8mins to purchase their items, because in between there is some problems occurr and how the cashier solve the problems is they have a bell to ring and some people will come to that counter to check what they can help to solve the issue.

What did I learn?

I learn that a cashier have too much customer to serve per day because the queue is too long and it seens like they have not enough manpower. I also learn that for asking another person to solve the issue like for example the food barcode can’t be scan and cashier can’t key in the price they have to get another person to get this item to the location and check the price and get back to the cashier. With this method I think that this will slow down the queue and this will also make some customer angry for making them wait so long.

What did it mean – your insights?

I think that shoppers they do not like to wait too long and they also hate crowded areas. So when they have to queue so long  to purchase their items, they will be unhappy to do so. Most of them will wait to buy their items is mostly because they do not have much choices to decide but wait to purchase their items.

Questions

  1. What is a multimedia CD-ROM title?
  2. What are some application of CD-ROM title design? Eg. Educational. Bring examples, if any.
  3. What are the differences between website design and CD-ROM title design?

Answers

A multimedia CD-ROM title is a CD-Rom design that includes a full set of instruction of how to use certain things or for education purposes. User will have to click and select what things they would like to see in the CD. Is like Adobe CD where you insert it and it will automatic start up a page where you can select what you want to know from Adobe.

Some of the applications CD-ROM design use is for Education and Training purposes. It is also introduce to students for both format capacity to house reams of information make them ideal research and references tools.

The differences for Web Design and CD-ROM title design is their Size, for a web-page size is best not to have more than 250kb as for CD-ROM title design you have a total of 700mb which is a huge differents if we compare the size. Secondly web-site design you can access it everywhere if there is an internet connection but for CD-ROM title design you need to have the CD-ROM in order to view the contents inside.

My Experience Video

•May 31, 2009 • 10 Comments

I choose Film-Making as my good experience because it is something very interesting. It requires alot of communication and interaction to be done in order to get a film out. Why I think film making is interactive is because the Director have to give out the correct instruction to the crews to make sure everything go according to plan. Crews will also have to give feedback or comments to the Director if they think something is wrong or need to improve. In the above videos you can see how I do give out instruction to the Cast.

Film-making is a good experience to me because it brings life to story and people get emotion when they watching it. The best satisfaction is when people give you that appluase when they finish watching it and perhaps that is why I still keep on doing film.

- Film-Making -

I think film-making is a good experiences because it brings story to life.
The process of film-making is also fun as you can see how people act and
how to edit a film and then watching the final product together with other
people. The best experience is when you are working on a film and facing
different problems until you finish the film and when everyone watch it, they
like it and the applause they give you and the positive comments. This is the
satisfaction as all artist is looking for. So I think this is a good experience.

Why is this Interactive?

I think because working on film it must be a team. So we will have to communicate
and discuss about the problems we face as well as the story to see how we can solve
the issue. The Director will have to give instruction during the shoot to all other people
in the team to make sure everything going smoothly and end on time. So film-making
we must interact with one another for feedback or comments to have a good product
completed.

- Pepsi Cola 1,2,3 -

I think this is also a good experience because it is fun and interesting although this game is
quite simple. This game helps me with the bonding between me and my friends. Sometimes
we can be quite stress over school works or personal things and with such a simple game
it helps to release some of the stress we have. This also brings back my memories when I was
young and playing this game in the neighbourhood playground with some childrens. This
game just require a few people and there is no limitation to how many people to play. Best thing
is that this game is fun.

Why it is Interactive?

I think this is interactive because this game require communication and reactive. We have to step
on one another legs to kick the player out of the game, same goes to other player they will need to step
on your leg in order to kick you out of the game and everyone have to prevent themselves from being
step. So I think this is interactive.
